yj original soft top part needed

hello all , the part time kid at work just bought a 89 yj ,
before he picked it up, he ordered a replace a top kit for it. he drove it into work a week later . i went out and looked at it and asked him where the rail that fits on the tailgate is so his softtop does'nt bow in and seals tight, he said there wasnt one, so any one replaced thier top but still got that piece for over the tailgate they would be willing to get rid of ? please reply or send me a personal email thanks dave

Re: yj original soft top part needed

when i bought my yj, i was missing the spreaders and the same piece you need. i bought adjustable spreaders, but i couldnt find the other piece, except at the dealer. i started calling 4 wheel drive shops close by, and the second place i called had one and sold it to me for $5. might try doing that in your area.

Re: yj original soft top part needed

My YJ is missing the spreader bar too. I just backed my spare tire into a tree (Ooops!!) and bent in the tail gate, it doesn't leak now.
I found an old CB ant. that would slide into the hollow tube on the rear curtain, that stiffened it up pretty good.

Re: yj original soft top part needed

I have a almost complete YJ softtop frame. It is only missing the corner pieces. If you cant find anything else i want 50 bucks plus shipping for everything and i wont split it up.

If he is not interested I am. Are the missing pieces the corners that bolt to the rear corners of the tub?

Re: yj original soft top part needed

Yeh that is what i believe to be missing. The pieces are brand new. I bought it out of a body shop that had to replace a top and all they did was replace the fabric. I never used it cause i bought a besttop instead of buying the replacement fabric for the yj.
