anyone try 4WD hardwars bolt set?

I was looking through 4 wheeldrives catalog and found that they are selling a fasterner package from 'totally stainless' anyone ever get this yet? I am just begining to do a frame swap and am planning on replacing a bunch of the bolts, but does it really come with every thing. the kit for the soft top has 620 pieces, which averages out to +/-$0.24 per piece

just looking for anyone who got it and if they thought it was really a complete kit.
thanks

I've tried to order that kit a few times last year when I was putting my CJ back together, but they're always back ordered or unavailable. I was too impatient to wait till they had some available.

Re: anyone try 4WD hardwars bolt set?

I found out about the complete Totally Stainless kits too late in my restoration job but during the later stages I did buy several of the sub-assembly packages from the TS catalog.
Everything was neatly packaged and labeled and easy to use ... alternator, manifolds, hood latch assembly, gas tank, dash, etc.
If I had it to do all over again, I'd just throw away all the old fasteners on disassembly and use the big Totally Stainless kit instead of cleaning and bagging them.
It would have saved me a hell of a lot of time and dozens of trips to the local fastener store.
Dispite popular belief, stainless bolts do come in grade 8.
Just remember to use anti-seize on all stainless fastners.

We have the kit for the CJ we are restoring at work. It is a great starting spot. Somethings werent there and other things are there that arent needed. But for the most part it is a darn good kit and much easier then going to the hardware store evertime you do something.

cool, sounds like it will be money well spent, now, if 4wd hardware just has them in stock.....

Re: anyone try 4WD hardwars bolt set?

I used the kit for my scrambler rebuild and it worked great. I think I got from 4WD Hardware. I was reading the newest Quadratec catalog and they have 3 different sets available. They have different heads (regular hex, button, and one other I can't remember). I would check these out because some of the bolts in my set were allen key heads and I think there were even some TORX that I threw out immediately.

Re: anyone try 4WD hardwars bolt set?

I haven't used the kit, but the price seems decent. I've spent over $150 on hardware buying everything separate. I tossed the button-head bolts that come with the stainless hinges and stuff and used hex bolts so I could remove them with rounding out the heads.
Only thing about the complete kits is they come with bolts for things you really shouldn't put stainless in - like engines and roll bars/other structural stuff. Stainless tends to get stuck and never come out and/or shear off.

Re: anyone try 4WD hardwars bolt set?

Well I found out that they actually have 3 versions of the set. set one is button head style
set two is standard hex head
set three is indented hex head(oem style)

I went ahead and ordered it directly from them. I got the parts list sent to me and it looks fairly extensive, but some of the stuff I won't bother with, oh well, I'm always needing bolts somewhere.
