Where\'d you put your tow hooks??

Just wondering who came up with a 'different' location for tow hooks, besides the top of the front bumper/frame.

(Pics?)

When I built my front bumper, I put a 2" receiver in the center. I use one of those receiver hooks.

Re: Where\'d you put your tow hooks??

I am a fan of D-rings myself. I like the fact that you can get the strap on there, and you know it is not going to come loose. A while back I was rebuilding my bumper because it got pretty messed up. I had a shop make me some brackets that will hold some D-rings and bolted them right in front of the frame mounts with grade 8 hardwear. I really like them. I haven't come up with a good mounting spot in the rear of my Jeep. I had a hidden hitch out back and used the 2" rec, but I took off the hitch when I redid the suspension. And now I do not have a good attachment point in the rear. When I get some free money I am going to get a new rear bumper with a 2" Rec. But until then I can only get stuck with a buddy in front of me.

I also did the 2" receiver deal on front and back bumpers, then use a d-ring on the slide in part.

Re: Where\'d you put your tow hooks??

Within the first year of getting my Jeep, I bought the tow hooks. I looked at different places to put them and realized that I didn't want something like that on my Jeep to snag me or anything else so I put mine on a shelf where they have laid ever since.

I went with lift rings. They're not cheap to buy but mine had been used once to set some conveyors and they didn't need them any more. I filled the gap behind the with a piece of nylon so they don't rattle too.

Re: Where\'d you put your tow hooks??

Ever thought of using a different type of tow hook? Here are some of the ones I have laying around.
