Smoking at HIGH RPMS?

I was wondering what could be causing smoking at HIGHER RPMS in my 2.5L? It's been doing this since I got it. Regular driving around town not a problem but when RUNNING HIGH RPMS... it shoots out some smoke. I know oil? But wouldn't it always do that? Thanks [img]images/graemlins/smirk.gif[/img]

Could be serious - but before fainting check your PCV system.
If it's plugged it can pressurize the crankcase, forcing oil
up past the rings.

You didn't indicate the smoke's out the crankcase or tailpipe.

Look closely at the tailpipe for any signs of condensation,
oil deposits etc. Run your finger in it.

Look at the smoke - white and dissipates quickly?
Most likely water/coolant - often the condensation appears
greenish and sticky. Head gasket etc

White but does not dissapate fast - reddish deposit?
Auto tranny? -- Vacuum modulator? Look at vacuum hose
at tranny, fluid inside?

Blue - hangs around a long time, doesn't dissipate fast?
Oil smoke - tailpipe may feel greasy. PCV clogged or
sucking oil out valve cover (no baffle,) oil rings,
oil leak into intake on Vee configurations (ie: V6, V8 etc.)

Blue smoke, greasy feel, - on hard acceleration, but more
on hard deceleration (high vacuum,) and at cold startup makes
a big puff, then stops - valve seals.

Have a look-see at the plugs to see if it's coming through
there.

Also check for external oil leaks onto exhaust - more that
one engine has been rebuilt because of a simple leak or
something simple.

Your 95 has the ccv valve as opposed to a PCV valve. That is it's a metered orfice. Any blow by in excess of it's handling capacity is routed (just like a carbed version) upstream of the throttle plate. That is, either way it's going into the intake stream.

Unhook your air tube vent line from the valve cover (plug it so you don't suck any foreign material in there) and see if the problem goes away. That is, the oil smoke will probably start coming out from under the hood. Don't plug the hose ...just where it meets the air tube.

Oh ...RRich has great advice above ...but you don't have to worry about atf in a DC product ..they have no vacuum modulator opting for the throttle postion valve linkage.

Maybe Carb is feeding to much fuel at high rpms?
