OT: check this volvo

Hi, its been a long time since I've been on this board since I don't get to drive my CJ-7 anymore, being in college.

I found this info about a Volvo station wagon fitted for desert racing, thought it was interesting

That is pretty cool. Not only does it look cool, but its probly one of the safest off-road vehicles ever. I wonder how much that cost.

EDIT Ok, I'm an idiot, the price is on the webpage. I just didn't scroll all the way down. $220,000!!!

Wow!! That sucker is probably bigger than most our Jeeps!! Kind of funny seeing leaf springs on the front of a new Volvo! Think they'll have that package as an option next year? You know, long travel front and rear suspension, 38" tires, full roll-cage. I'd buy it.....

Volvo made a 4 wheel drive version of the old post war body style for one of the European countries. I think Belgim but I do not remember for sure. I have seen one. It's owned by a guy in the Battle Ground, WA area. (near Vancouver/Portland) All beefed up right out of the box. Next time I get a chance I'll try to get some photos.

Re: OT: check this volvo

Actually it says the car only cost US$ 92,000 with 2000 hours of labor. It looks like Volvo also donated the base car.. so I guess thats $92k of mods

Re: OT: check this volvo

Maybe those pictures are from when they were doing planning and hadnt put the engine in yet.

If you click through to their website, dakar2003.nu you can see some newer pics from their test run that show it definately has an engine, and different tires (BFG A/T)
