Electrical Problems????

Hi guys,

My 98 TJ has a problem. The instrumental panel i.e. speedometer, tach, airbag light, etc. Shuts down sometimes when I hit a bump on the road and a few times it just shuts down while riding on smooth pavement. When this happen, the speedometer and tach needles drop to zero, the airbag light comes on and the mileage stop counting. The only way I can get it back working properly again is by tapping the top of the dash ( directly on top of those things ). Any ideas? Electrical problems? Please advice, Thank you!

1. Known TJ problem.
2. DC has a tech bulliten out on the problem.
3. You may want to look at that and use is as a fix....
4. Take a look Here...

Thanks for the thread. I will try that when I can. Leve, how do you get to 'DC Tech Bulletin'. Can't seem to find it on this site. Thanks again!

1. Go to the dealer.
2. Ask for:

TSB: 08-15-99 MAY 99 Instrument Cluster - Intermittent/Erratic Operation
