Weber float bowl empty again.

I had a chance to start my Jeep ('84 CJ7 w/ Weber 32/36) this morning after sitting for a week. Guess what.....float bowl was empty and had to crank it for about a minute before it would start. I disconnected the fuel return line from the filter a couple of weeks age. That apparently didn't fix the empty float bowl syndrone. I'm going to plug off the float bowl vent next to see if that helps.

I remember having a little back and forth on this a while ago, I was having the same problem, although it may not be to the degree you are having it. But, I started parking my Jeep in the garage (finally cleaned out the garage!) a while ago, haven't had the problem since, one pump, 2 at most, even after a few days. I think my problem may have been due mostly to evaporation in the intense NM sun along with very low humidity.

I'm inclined to think it's evaporation, too. Before I had my Jeep on the road, I remember noticing the smell of gas around the engine compartment when I was putting on the front fenders or working on the clutch linkage. I checked all the hoses for leaks and found nothing. The smell seemed to be from around the air cleaner. I've always parked mine in-doors out of the sun, and it's always been hard to start after 2 or 3 days. Once it pumps up it purrs like a kitten.
