14 bolt w/37\"\'s and other GM full width questions

I am thinking of running full width axles (GM style, not FSJ style) and came across a deal on a 3/4 ton Dana 44 69" front, and 14 bolt 67" rear
In searching most say to run at least 38" or taller tires, anyone ever run a shaved 14 bolt and 37"'s? I have a new set on 37" MT/R's and would prefer to not have to buy new tires as well, I will grind the calipers to run a 8-lug 15" rim.
I am guessing it would be around 81" wide front, and 79" wide rear (with 15x8 4" bs, 12.50" tires) anyone know for sure, my trailer is only 82" wide and I would like to be able to drive onto it
The rig is not a DD, so legality isn't a real big issue for width and the whole tire being outside the tub.

You can run what ever tire size you want it is just a matter of how much ground clearence you want. Keep in mind true tire size also. my brothers setup was 14 bolt 38inch tsl's which were really 37inch and my setup was a d44 with q78's measured 35 inches tall.

When I sold my 44 and bought his 14 bolt and wheels I lost 1/4 of an inch (and he already had it shaved)

A 44 is a comon axle and with your tires which probally measure a 36, then you would be 3/4 of inch below a 44 setup. So I would just use your tires, when they wear out you can go bigger if you want. Mike

WC- Those hummer radials??

I`m gonna be running the Hummer Bias Plys until I can afford my 38" SX and they are only 36" so I`ll be lower than that... gotta shave for sure.. got any pics of it shaved??

Did you shave just the lip or into the housing more where u had to weld a plate on it ??

Thanks

Yes , those are the radials.

Just cut the extra material off the housing, not though the housing.
Used a skillsaw with a metal cutting blade and then a 4" grinder, took about 20 minutes to cut, grind and paint (BustedRig,,,have you ever done this before?? 2+ hours?? )

I got an older style pre finned 14 bolt with the lip that's about 1.5 inches, using only a grinder it takes a long fawking time to remove 1" of cast housing.
