My son and I are rebuilding a 258 to put in his 1989 Wrangler. We are in the process of putting together everything we need so we can pretty much take his present engine out and drop in the "new" one. On his present 258 there is a fitting screwed into the block on the rear of the passenger side with a oil pressure sending unit and another sending unit that is not mentioned anywhere in the books we have. I unplugged it and all of the gauges still seem to work. When I plug it back in I can hear the engine rpms change and it seems like it puts additional load on the alt. Does anyone know what this might be?
The other one is an oil pressure switch that enables the intake heater when the engine is running. There is thermostat in the intake that shuts off the heater once the coolant reaches 160 degrees or so.
Thanks..went there and printed out a bunch of stuff. We have a 3-ring binder that we are using for all this kind of info. We have the nutter bypass on the jeep and a weber carb., but it is nice to know what some of that stuff does as some of it is still being used.
