Front diff pinion seal nut.

Seal is leaking. Can not loosen pinion seal nut. How tight is it? Can I put heat on it? Don't want to harm anything else. Please advise. Thanks Ralph P (85 CJ7)

Re: Front diff pinion seal nut.

you need an impact wrench, but ive had some pinion nuts that even that wouldnt remove, kn which case Ive cut them off.

you could probabyl drive to a shop and have someone with a 3/4" or larger impact wrench remove it, then drive it home and do what ever you need to do.

Re: Front diff pinion seal nut.

Put a pipe wrench on the pinion yoke. Prop it on the spring. Put a breaker bar on the pinion nut with a 4' pipe on that. You should be able to break it loose with that.
