44 swap and gearing question

I've started to swap in a narrow track 44 into my 79 CJ7. The 30 up front will need diffrent gears. I was thinking of using the front gears out of the doner '73 cj5. They have the same tooth count as the 44. The gear swap sounds a little tricky but I'm going to have a go at it. Can I use the gears out of the '73 dana 30 front? Anyone got a good place to get the 2 3/4 spring perches for the 44?

Re: 44 swap and gearing question

I usually make my own perches, but lots of vendors sell them, like 4WD Hardware.

The '73 and later CJ D30's have the same setup, so you should be able to use the gears.

you can buy perches from summit, or Jegs or any of those, plus a zillion stock car parts places online, for about $12 a pair.
