Holy Cr#p. That is one of the worst deer hit pics I have ever seen. I hope that there wasn't anyone in the passanger seat when that happened. That is a pretty serious mess.

After a search over there I found this post

nice pics! i got those in an email a week or so ago. it's from minnesota alright - a section of highway in wayzata (rich people city). the buck was on an overpass, a car was heading for it, and he jumped the barrier! after dropping a story and a half he fell right into the windshield of the durango. the guy was okay - just a little glass in his forehead i'm from minnesota and my dad forwarded it to me. seems that it's been getting passed around all over there for awhile now.

Geeze...I think that would scare the crap outta me. Looks like the buck won't have the guts to do that again...

Re: Honey, I think we just hit something..

Fiancee's niece and her boyfriend are in the hospital right now because of a deer hit like that on a dark SC country road. They were doing brain scans yesterday -- so it was pretty serious.

The deer get pretty active at night with the rut and also the day hunting going on in most states now.

The interesting thing is that you usually don't hit the first one... it usually makes it past the car..... and you hit the 3rd or 4th one.

Edit: Dang, that is a pretty good sized deer. Talk about bragging rights... and how often do you get a nice 8-point in Deleware?

I hope the guy is ok, it looked like he had blood all over his head... and lucky that it wasn't a nice antler in his chest.

Best regards

John

Re: Honey, I think we just hit something..

This should be a reminder to everyone to slow down when you see deer in the area. Where there is one there are more. The weather is cooling down so the deer get more active and start wandering on the road. Here in IL the first shotgun season for deer is the weekend before Thanksgiving, so until then the numbers will be extremely high. So slow down and drive safe when you see deer. The best thing to do would be to flash your lights off and on again and honk your horn. Hopefully that'll scare 'em away.

What's the last thing to go through a bug's mind when it hit's your windshiled.?

Well, I wonder at what point in mid-flight the deer was when he realized his fatal error?

This is a lesson to us all: Look before you Leap!

It's butt....

I doubt the deer ever knew what hit it...

I still can't figure out the mechanics of the collision though. If the deer fell on the roof, why's it inside? If it only went through the windshield, why's the roof caved in?

Re: Honey, I think we just hit something..

Looks like it went head (rack) first into the windshield and since the vehicle was in movement the rest of the body was flung back into the roof. Then it might have "bounced" back forward or just slid down the rest of the way in to cab as the vehicle slowed.
