Dana 30 HELP needed!!!...

Hello,

I put a Dana 30 on my Jeep yesterday, went for a little test road and broke my steering knuckle after 100yards!!! Well, the guy who sold the axle to me didn't tell me it has been welded!!! So, I had a lot of fun trying to go back home with it and began to unbolt everything to put my spare part...
Well, when i removed the knuckle the axle shat (driver side) came with it, so, a little bit of oil out...I replaced it and it stopped...
So, could any of you tell me if i just have to replace it as it came off or if i have specials things to do or to check...
Well, thanx a lot for your help....
PS: I ll send a pic of the broken knuckle as soon as i get some batt in my digicam...Funny how peoples act sometimes, i am lucky i wasn't driving fast...

Re: Dana 30 HELP needed!!!...

Axle just slips in when you get the outer parts unhooked. There is a seal right at the center section so be a little careful not to slam the end of the axle against it. It has a tapered guide to make the axle go in. Might take a look at the outer spindle bearing and dirt seal in the knuckle too, they are almost always shot, not expensive.
