\'74 CJ5 Soft Top Problem

We have a problem with the bestop soft top on lirpasues CJ5. The problem is that the velcro above the door comes loose on an almost daily basis if we drive at highway speeds. The velcro doesn't seem worn out or dirty. Is this a problem anyone else has faced and is there a solution to it? The top is 2 or 3 years old according to the PO and is in very good condition and works great otherwise.

I had the same problem with my new top also. I installed snap`s at each end of the velcro on both side`s. Haven`t had any problem since.

Same problem here. I just duct-taped it up there.

Re: \'74 CJ5 Soft Top Problem

Hey Travis I checked out your site, Nice CJ5. I really like the snorkle mod, Looks great and CHEAP too. Thats the way I like to do things also. I have couple questions about your Tera-Low T-case upgrade. How does it work? Any problems, Noises, Regrets? I`d like to put a kit in my `72. Any comments good or bad, would be appreciated. Thanks, Rich.

Re: \'74 CJ5 Soft Top Problem

Velcro (and velcro-like products) does wear. It's a little hook on one side and the mating side is a loop. The hooks do wear, and the loops break. If one or both sides wear enough it won't take the load.
