Spindle nut socket size??

I am trying to find out what size the spindle nut socket is on a D30 in a 1993 Wrangler. I was unable to find any info using the search function, and the auto parts stores in the area have been no help at all. First time posting, but have been viewing the board for quite a while. Thanx for all of the good info.

Re: Spindle nut socket size??

I think some of the Autozone's in town carry one, if not Napa (the one on Eubank south of Indian School) should have one.
Anyway, the size is 2 1/16".

Re: Spindle nut socket size??

Thanx for the info. I had called around to several Autozones, but they didn't have any in stock. Their computer listed the part # only, not the size. NAPA in Rio Rancho couldn't tell me a size or a part #. Maybe the guy was new. Anyway.., thanx again.

Re: Spindle nut socket size??

It's a 36mm on my tj and i'm pretty sure it's the same throught the years. I have a 36mm 1/2" drive deep well socket that does the trick. I think it is lysle (or what ever the brand of tools that auto parts stores sell in i think red and white packaging), it's pretty common, just look around. I'd drive your jeep to the parts store just to make 100% sure.

36mm

Napa has the exact socket you need. The p/n is NTPD-636M. It is a 36mm, 6pt, deep well impact socket, 1/2" drive. its kind of pricey at $28, but worth every penny of it.

Re: Spindle nut socket size??

Iron weasel, I think you're thinking of thre CJ D30 spindle socket, which is actually 2 3/32" (some 2 1/16" will work, some don't). The YJ uses a unitized bearing assembly, and as such really doesn't have a "spindle", the nut holds the wheel assembly to the axle shaft.

Eh, I could very well be.
The last time I went near an axle was on my dads old CJ7 before he sold it for a Lincoln.
