Price check on some d44 parts

I have a line on a set of flat top knuckles, spindles, calipers, and backing plates off ofa gm dana 44. The guy wants 200 plus shipping for them.

You guys think this is a pretty decent deal or not?

Also, I am really feeling dumb rightnow and can't for the life of me remember how the caliper is held in place. Is that a separate bracket that bolts to the knuckle or is that cast into the knuckle?

Don't know where your located, but prices vary depending on location. I wanted to get a couple of extra parts for my Waggy 44, but wound up getting a whole axle rotor to rotor for $100 with flattops.

Re: Price check on some d44 parts

A few months ago near St. Louis I got a complete D44 from an '84 Dodge for $75. It had flat top knuckles and big internal-spline 5 on 5 1/2 hubs. Good brakes too, but with Dodge calipers, of course.

The junkyard would apparently sell any 4X4 front axel for $75. Couldn't find a D60, though.

also need to know if this is good deal

I have been given the same deal here in Boston.
200 for the outters(less calipers and rotor/hubs) and 250 for the whole axle. I would like to know if this is a good deal also. Hes the only guy in town with a 74 chevy Dana 44 front axle that I need for the spindles, backing plates and the flat tops. On the other hand, a friend has both outters from a Dodge that I could have for $150 both sides,
Would do you guys have to say about that

Re: also need to know if this is good deal

I'm not rubbing it in or anything like that, just putting a little info out. But, I found a farmer that had a 83' GMC 3/4ton truck behind his barn, $50 for anything on the truck,,, knuckles, hubs everything even got the axles for spares. Including the rear 14bolt.

He's a good guy!

Re: Price check on some d44 parts

I'd say pass that deal up. Most of the u-pull it's around here will charge some where btween 50-100 for a complete front axle and i've even heard of a set of dodge d60's going for $300 they pull it. If you need a couple axle parts (knuckles, hubs, ect.) it's usually cheeper to buy the enyire axle, i paid $25 for a front axle shaft (260 joint d30 a while back) when i could have probably gotten the entire housing for $50 though i had no use for it and a disconect d30 housing is pretty much worthless but a chevy d44 would be worth some $$. Spend some time around your local yards and know what your looking for and you should be able to find one somewhere for cheep, the key is paticence.
