Re: CJ7 Headlight Dimmer HELP

It appears to be an aftermarket lamp. My guess is that:

a. It's going to light up when the headlight switch is pulled on.
b. There's some indication it may be part (tranducer ) of an anit-theft device.
c. You could look up the paten number and get a better description.
d. Flare Stat is made by Federal Mogul, Signal Stat division

It's not OEM.

Re: CJ7 Headlight Dimmer HELP

If it's hooked into your dimmer switch, it might be a light to tell you that the brights are on, like the one in the speedo. Does the one in the speedo work? You have 3 extra lines coming out of the dimmer switch, you should be able to figure out where it comes from. Those 3 lines are grey-hot-not connected, low beam-foglights, and high beam-high beam light on speedo. I can't remember what the colors are on the last two.
I guess the short answer is "it's not stock".
Hope this helps. Let us know if you figure out what it is.

Just a few shots in the dark, but maybe a low beam switch/pilot light for fog/driving lights? Some sort of DRL module? Or was your rig ever owned by a volunteer firefighter? looks kind of like an older high beam flasher.

Re: CJ7 Headlight Dimmer HELP

Thanks for the input guys, I took it out and now got the lights working again. Man I can't beleive the wiring nightmare the PO did to this thing.

Thanks again!!
