What\'s correct fuel sender 68 CJ5?

Have a 1968 CJ-5. The one with the fuel tank under the drivers seat. Just received a new fuel level sender from Quadratec. It's not the right one! What I got is a sender unit with a round, flat plate with a cicular screw hole pattern and no fuel pick up/return lines. My jeep has a sender unit that uses the locking ring and has the fuel pick up/return lines. I figured they sent the wrong one but in looking throught my catalogs I find a picture of a under seat tank (like mine) with a simple hole and the circular screw pattern (not like mine). Thought maybe I have some sort of hybrid. Any input would help.

hmm...
Joe, it seems as maybe you stumped the bbs.
Sorry, I don't know the answer but thought maybe a reply would be good so you don't think we are rude here on the SWB.

Jeep was known for using different parts through model runs - plus yours has like 35 years for modifications so most anything is possible.
The sending unit on yours sounds (from description) like the one I replaced on an 85 model CJ - lock ring and pick-up lines. I have never been in any other CJ fuel tank so ???

Maybe your best bet would be to go to a local 4x4 shop or auto parts store. There you could compare what you have with what they have... or even with what is in catalogs.

I think the one with the "simple hole and screw pattern" is for earlier model cj's mine had the same before I took it back out (leaf collector) and built one to put under the rear

you say 68 I'm not familiar with the years right off the top of my head but early 60's with the high hood had the one your talking about.
