ATTN: LEVE - Sticky Buy/Sell Post ????

Hey Larry , what do you think of the idea that they have going on at the Ford Trucks board ? They have a sticky post for the regulars who are buying/selling stuff for thier trucks . NO commercial ads etc.. I think its good , what do the rest of you think about putting something like that here for the Jeep guys/gals ??
Just a thought .

Re: ATTN: LEVE - Sticky Buy/Sell Post ????

I think we need our own FORUM for that like the POR and JU boards have.. I don't like the "website sale/wanted" that we use here..

That's my .02 atleast!

Yep , a seperate forum would be great too . Anythings better than the way it is now , most people say " We HAVE a For Sale section ? "
I visit the Ford Trucks board often and its not that much of a PITA having that post sticky .

Re: ATTN: LEVE - Sticky Buy/Sell Post ????

I have two problems with that. First, I have a GM TPI engine in my Jeep so I visit the thirdgen.org board, in particular the DIY ECM section, from time to time. The first two thirds of the first page are sticky posts that the moderator thought were important. Just demonstrating the sticky posts could easily get out of hand.

Second, I made deals with two people on this board to buy. One with NavyJP for a set of fiberglass doors, he has 114 posts and registered on 09/19/00 and another with indycj for a T-176 and he offered to send me free a D-300 shift lever, he only has 17 and registered on 07/30/02. In both cases I agreed to pay their asking price, all they had to do was get the shipping charges. Neither one of them ever responded with the shipping after making the original deal. I wouldn't regard either one as real regulars but still 117 in two years for one and I seem to remember indycj claimed in some posts that he was registered under different names over a long period of time due to ISP changes.

So what would be your minimum criteria? 500 posts and two years membership?

I kind of figure if they are worthwhile parts at a decent price by a legitimate member, they will bubble their way back to the top. Even the others do from people telling them they aren't allowed to sell here.

We had a for sale forum. I guess it bit the dust in the bbs changes due to lack of interest, hardly anybody used it.

1. I'd support a new open forum for sale items.
2. I'd not support a sticky for these same items within the SWB fourm.
3. Convince me it's needed.
4. I could be wrong!

Re: ATTN: LEVE - Sticky Buy/Sell Post ????

I'll further convince you it's NOT needed. There's already one permenant post on the board(and a good one at that). We don't need another one cluttering it up! It'd be nice for the admins to create another forum for selling stuff. Even if it doesn't get much use, it's there. Then you could put info in the welcome/rules message that is currently sticky. I don't mind so much the veterans that post a Jeep they're parting out, or have a ton of parts for sale. But sometimes, people post just stupid random things like having a tail light for sale or something. I remember one individual that would post once a week about the same thing for sale on eBay. It got a little annoying for me.

Re: ATTN: LEVE - Sticky Buy/Sell Post ????

I presonally dont like the idea of sticky for sale posts.
I used to like the for sale section of this BBS, whenever it was good, was it 2 years or so ago? I made alot of transactions as buyer and seller on that old for sale section, I now use the one on Pireatebbs, or ebay.

My opinion only, nothing else.

Re: ATTN: LEVE - Sticky Buy/Sell Post ????

I don't see the need because the seller can always bump the post up if necessary. Anyway, how many times must someone read "F/S - Dana 44 axle" (for example) to know if they are or aren't interested?
