My tranny swap!!!!

Well my T-5 is tost so I decided to swap in the SM465 I have sitting in my garage. Has anyone here used the Novak adapter for this?? or any other swap?? Im having my bellhousing and bearing retainer machined by a local shop. Just wondering if the Novak adapter is worth it. I allready ordered so I geuss its to late to worry about it. I have just heard different opinions in the past about Novak and AA...

Re: My tranny swap!!!!

What are you doing with the T5? How bad is it? I'm mostly interested in the tailhousing and output shaft. Feel like boxing it up... and sending it across country??

Re: My tranny swap!!!!

That's the exact same swap I'll be doing here shortly. Just curious, how much are you paying for the machine work on the bellhousing and retainer, I haven't priced it yet? I'm going to go with the Novak adapter myself, I talked with a guy at Novak and they seemed very willing to help over the phone and seem to know their stuff.

Re: My tranny swap!!!!

I replied to your post before I checked this but if you want it Im sure we can make a deal!!! I would like to wait until this next weekend until I part with it. Whats it worth to you?? Make me a reasonable offer and Im sure I'll take it.

cjjeepercreeper!!! I found a local shop to do my work for close to what Novak quoted. For the bellhousing it was just $35, now the bearing retainer is where it gets expensive!!! To do it, $80. So Im saving $5 from what Novak quoted plus what ever shipping would cost to send it to them. I do have to say though, they go out of there way to be curtious over the phone. I talked to a couple different guys from Novak and they make the swap sound easy. They have two different kits available for this swap. Which one are you planning on using? One swaps the tailshaft on the tranny wich changes it from a 10 spline to a 30 spline. They told me to save myself some money and do the input shaft swap on the transfer case (opposite from what I said above). They said that since its in a light vehicle, I wouldn't need the 30 spline and swapping the t-case input is easier and about $40 cheaper!! I'll let you know how it goes!!! Should have all my parts in by Thursday.
