Doors and Hard top for my 82 CJ7

hello,

I am new to the Jeep world.I recently bought an 82 CJ7 with the soft doors and top. I wanted to put on full doors and a hard top when I take long trips. My question is can I use 86-95 doors and tops on my 82? I viewed older posts but could not get an accurate answer. And I have had people tell me both yes and no. I have no problem swapping out door strickers if thats what it takes. I just dont want to end up with something that does not really fit correctly. I see lots of them on ebay but want to be sure what I am doing before I lay down the money

The doors up to 95 will fit fine, but as you metioned you may have to change the door strikers. At some point there was a little bit of change to the body tub in the area around where the door striker mounts too, if I remember correctly. So you may have to make sure you get strikers that mount correctly to your tub. Someone else may be able to add what year this was (or correct me if I've been smoking too much crack again )

[/ QUOTE ]That's the correct answer, yes and no.

Jeep changed strikers in '81 so you should have or be set up for the right ones. The problem is on the CJ, the tailgate closed first and then the top hatch. On the YJ, the hatch closed first and then the tailgate. So, while it will fit, you'd have to crawl in the back of the CJ to latch the tailgate after you closed the hatch.

I'm just throwing out an Idea here, but if you wanted to...couldn't you put the CJ rear hatch on the Wrangler Top and be able to operate everything correctly?? (probalby not worth the extra cash) But it should work I think

Suggest you use the same year/type striker as the hard top.
'95 striker sets on my '83 and '95 top works perfectly.
