\'95 YJ - Good Deal?

In this local area I found a '95 YJ for sale. It is completely stock, and has only the little 4cyl motor in it with a 5 speed. The thing is in wonderful condition. The only rust on it I saw was one small spec of surface rust on the passenger door. And I am from Wisconsin, so rust is a HUGE issue here. It has 116,000 miles on. They want $5,600 for it. Is that a good price? I have a motor that I can drop in to replace the 4cyl. It is the 258 I6, so should it bolt right up to the 5 speed? I assume it will. The Jeep comes with a hard top, but no soft top. I have a soft top for a CJ7, so would that fit this YJ? The thing looks like it is in wonderful condition. What do you guys think? Thanks!

Doesn't sound like a good deal to me.. but then again I`m in California and your in Wisconsin..

I don't think the i6 will bolt up either because the shaft differecnes.. (I think)

For 115,000 miles and a 4cyl you can find em around 4,000 here.. but I don't look at 4cyl so.. maybe thats a good deal tehre

Also consider that any car made before 1997 in this area has rust too! This one doesn't, which is also quite anazing.

Re: \'95 YJ - Good Deal?

Around my neck of the woods, a '95 4 cylinder runs around $5000 or so.

Aside from the price, if it's a 4 cylinder it should have the AX-5 in it, which probably wouldn't stand up the the 258 very well.
Personally, I'd live with the fuel injected 4cyl over the carbureted 258.

Obviously, it's up to you...but I'd say pass on it.

Without rust, not bad. But you might want to check on your plans for the engine. The ax-5 trans is notoriously weak, and will, most likely, not stand up to a i-6. You might want to consider this. Kelly Blue Book, puts the retail price around 7k.
Hope this helps
