Rear bumper finally done!! (PICS)

I finally got my rear bumper done. Just needs a coat of paint or two slapped onto it. I've had this sucker laying around for quite some time, ready to be assembled. But my welder wasn't up to the job of welding the 3/4" tabs for the shackles, so I waited until I took a welding class at a CC. I think it turned out pretty darn good for only my second creation!! What ya all think?

Looks good, wish I could fab something together like that. I'd like to put a similar bumper on my CJ7 someday (once it's back together) Anyway, throw some black powder-coat on it and it'll be real sharp looking...no to mention rugged

I would say that if that is only the second thing that you have ever made... You should quite your day job, and make some money fabbing parts for people. That bumper looks great! Well done

Lookie goodie man! Good call on waiting to weld the load bearing components until you have access to the proper tools. Is it tied into the frame anywhere?

Looks great, Jammy. Glad you got it done. Now i dont have to here about your rear bumper anymore. So whats next on the list of things to do. We need something new to talk about. HEHEHEHE

Oh yeh the CJ tail gate looks good, too. Now you just need some round headlights up front and you would have one heck of a ride.

Good work.

I don't mean to criticize (heck...I had to look up in the dictionary how to spell criticize...didn't want anyone to criticize my spelling)....but you will find that your reciever hitch will hit hard on big rocks and may bend your subframe support.

I know this cuz my bumper looks alot like yours and that what happened to me.

Looks killer Jammy. Nice job. I have my hitch the same way and I have never had any problems with it. I don't run ARCA or CALROCKS. Actually I wouldn't trade my setup for what "WE" use it for.
Now go soak your head in cold water...........so you can get out the door and in your jeep.

:insert a golf clap minimum here:
Good job!

Re: Rear bumper finally done!! (PICS)

I've got one of the heavy duty hitches (class II, class III, I don't remember). It has arms that run from the ends of what is essentially a back bumper the hitch is mounted in, to the big holes in the frame right above the rear axle. I thought it added a lot of strength especially with a heavy tongue load. You might consider it as a "someday" modification.

Looks good, but where is the tire carrier?
