Clamp/latch for tire carrier/bumper?

I know there are several posts on the BBS about this, but I didn't find much info. I'm curious which latch to use on my rear bumper/tire carrier? I know mcmaster.com and carrlane.com both makes these latches, but I'm having trouble locating them on their site. Thanks!

Re: Clamp/latch for tire carrier/bumper?

My local welding shop got several sample latches from it's distributor for me to try. I tried one with a little catch arm, but it broke. I finally settled on a spring loaded slam latch holds the tire mount up against a plate. Sorry I don't have any pics. I'd try some local shops. My guy had several cataloges full of latches.

Jammy, can you post a pic of what you got so far? I think you did once before, but I can't seem to find it.

I'm pretty sure my latches wouldn't work for you....I'm using a 1.5" Pull Pin on each side!

Why spend more than you have too?.....just do what I did,...it's simple and it works.

Go to www.mcmaster.com page 2366. I used type "3" for my carrier.
Part No. 5135A27 Steel $23.71 or
Part No. 5135A37 Stainless Steel $46.85

Look at what I did, see if it's good enough for you. Whatever you do I'd recommend to tie the top of the carrier to the tailgate also similar to what I did. It works great, I don't have any rattles and helps preserve the life of the carrier hinge.

What did you want a pic of? My rear bumper? I don't have the tire carrier started yet. I'm not sure I see why the latch system won't work for me?

Great site! Thanks for posting it. I'm curious, would a 90 degree or a straight one work better? Also, I saw on there a 331-R and a 331 latch. What's the difference? Thanks again!
