Engine Rebuild Kit Reccomendations

Well I just finished a 4.0 swap and come to find out why I got such a good deal on the motor, I am sure it is a bent rod seeing how it sounds like a deisil!! But it happens I guess so now I am looking for a good freshining up kit, everything I am not gonna mess around this time. I am gonna do most of the work myself and whatever my machine guys will do for me I remember reading about someone doing a 4.6 stroker I think that'd be a good option as well but I cannot find anything when I do a search so hopfully someone remembers.. Thanks James

Re: Engine Rebuild Kit Reccomendations

I'd say upgrade to the 4.6 stroker kit. A few people on here have done it so they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Re: Engine Rebuild Kit Reccomendations

Yea thats what I am gonna do but I have no idea where to start looking for the parts. The local dealer said your doing what???? I laughed then left. So I was hoping to find a list of what I need and start getting some parts. I know I will need overbore pistons (sixty thou) also which style of rods would be best for this application? Any preference in bearings? Also is the stock crank machinable or do I need a new one? Lots of questions so if anyone has any idea please pm me thanks.

Re: Engine Rebuild Kit Reccomendations

How would you make a stroker without a new crank?

Here is the link I looked into, but I should be able to get mine back together with no more machine work, so maybe later.

Re: Engine Rebuild Kit Reccomendations

Well a few Q's for you first: 1- How much did you spend the first time, 2- Do you know how much the stroker kit costs , I personally think it's a waste of money, sorry but I can get a crate 350 for about the same price with a warranty . The only good thing about the 4.0 is the FI and it fits all stock jeep trannies, if your looking for more power then look for a bigger engine.
