Can I just flip my dana 300 for a drivers drop?

I know there are the flip kits to mount one on a yj. I have a CJ-8. I was thinking, if I swap in a new axle, I'd go with the high pinion from a ford. The d300 bolt pattern is circular and it can be clocked if you leave out that one bolt or tap a new hole for it. So I think I can just rotate it and be done with it. Or is there anything wrong with running the case upside-down that the flip kit fixes? I'll build my own twin-sticks at the same time. Is there anything else I'm forgetting?

You will need to drill and tap a new place to put lube into the case. And you man need to drill and tap a new drain also. That 300 wont last long without lube in it.
I think most of the flip kit for the YJ has to do with getting the transmittion to bolt up. If you try it, keep us posted.

OK, seems like it wont be a problem. How high should the oil be in an upside down case? I've allready found a high pinion dana 44 from a ford. But I may also know where a 60 is in a chevy. I'll update when/if I do it.

Ummm what about the driveshaft being in the way of the shifters? Are you going to build a new shifter set for the bottom cover like the flip kits?

If you try to just bring the bottom shifters up and around, don't forget to take into account shaft movement.
