heating intake manifold

it is starting to get cold again and the jeep is starting to run rough again until the engine is warm. i know this was discussed before and seemed to be attributed to the cold, long intake manifold causing the gas vapor to condense. so has anyone come up with any type of electrical heat wrap that can be wired to the battery. just curious.

thanks all
shawn

Re: heating intake manifold

The intake manifold I have is off of an 87 4.2 and it came with a built in electric heater and coolant lines. It runs the electric heater untill the thermal switch shuts off, by then the coolant has come up to temp and is flowing through.

Re: heating intake manifold

A Cheap way to fix some of the problem you have. I had a friend with a real POS car a while back. When he got home in the evening and he knew the car was going to sit all night in the cold he would open the hood, and put an old hair dryer in the engin compartment pointed at the intake. When he got up in the morning befor he went out to start it he would plug in an extension cord attached to said hair dryer. Let it sit for a while, then he would go out, pull the hair dryer, and start the car. It really worked quite well for him. I bet it would work in a jeep.

I think you should just put on the heavier coat in the morning like you always did
