High pinion axles?

I know most ford pickups had them in the front. I have a CJ-8 with plenty of rock marks on the drive shafts. Did any vehicle ever come with a passenger drop high pinion front? I guess I could flip my dana 300 so I could use a ford axle. How about rear axles? I know the ford 8.8 in an explorer is high pinion and a nice width but it is also 5 on 4.5. I don't really care about bolt pattern, I just don't want the 5 on 4.5. Anything else would be fine. Are the 8.8s in the newer pickups high pinion? Is any other rear axle high pinion?

Re: High pinion axles?

the 8.8 is not a high pinnion. as far as I know there isn't a rear HP, its straight cut brother is stronger, and therefor always used in the back. you can take a HP 60 housing or a 44 HP and retube it for the rear or even a pass side drop.
