windshield retainer

My windshield retainer for the soft top is real loose. The screws have stripped the holes and I already tried thicker diameter screws and now they have stripped. Anyone else have this problem? When I drive on the highway(or higher than 35 mph) the center bows outward letting cold air in, and soon will let rain in.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do to remedy this? Thanks in advance.

Re: windshield retainer

Drill new holes in the retainer and the top of the windshield frame. then use the proper size screws.

Re: windshield retainer

Even better, clean both surfaces really well. Pick up some pop rivets and some silicon sealant. Drill the holes out to the proper size for the rivets, run a bead of silicon on the windshield frame, set the retainer in place, and rivet it nice and tight. Should seal better than new, and won't vibrate loose like screws. Hope this helped. Happy Jeepin'!
