Coil Question

I have an AMC 360 motor and I am currently running a round accel performance coil. I think that is fine since the stock one is also round but someone thought for my engine I should have the bigger accel coil that is square. What is the difference between the 2 and what one do I want? thanks Mike

Re: Coil Question

<disclaimer>First off, I am by no means an expert here and there are real experts on this board that don't hesitate to jump on people who pretend to be experts</disclaimer>

I would imagine that increasing your spark too much without changing to a better distributer would result in arcing or possible grounding. I use the TFI coil with a wider bodied distributer cap (the TR upgrade) and it works great. Also, your wires may need to be upgraded to handle higher loads. I'm fairly sure that the hotter your spark, the better, but the equipment needs to be up to the extra power.

Okay, guys...jump in now!
