FI 302 or carb 360 (poll)

Just a quick poll to get opinions on wether I should go with a fuel injected 5.0 from a Lincoln or a carburated 360 from a J truck...both are same price.

FI is going to be more efficiant with a smaller displacement then the 360. Less fuel used beeter. Besides "5.0" is sound alot cooler

FI would be my choice. No stalls on steep climbs & less weight.

Mobe, I have a line on a GM crate motor 350 never installed, owner was still in the process of buying the bolt ons when he decided to bail on the project. Last I heard he was looking for around 1K.

I personally don't like Fords ( [img]images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img] ) but I believe that the after market parts availability and the FI make the 5.0 a better choice than the 360 [img]images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

Ok i am still stuck back in time so i would have to say either a carbed 360 or a carbed 302. I have this issue with FI. What happens when you die on the side of the trail. Do you carry your snap on computer with you to find out whats wrong. At least with a carb it is going to be the spark or fuel. Fuel i can make a carb messing up bad get me home. Spark i carry everything with me as a spare. I have even thought of putting a spare distrubiter(SP) together that way if something went down i could just change distrubiter(SP). Which engine i would go with would depend of which tranny i used. If i wanted an auto it would be ford. If i was running a stick it would stay with amc. I dont like chevy motors in a jeep because of the distrubiter(SP) being in the back. I am too damn short to reach all the way back there.

I have a T-18 and I'm sticking with it...easily adaptable to either power plant.
