1991 Jeep weatherstrip

Some where I heard that if you have a weather strip that needs a little more life you could spray or wipe on a product that will swell the rubber a little, like WD-40, silicon, etc., can't remember what product they suggested. Could you help in is? It's for the hard top to windshield weather-strip of a 1991 jeep wangler renegade. I get a little rain leakage, (just a few drops) and wind noise. I really don't want to replace it if possible.

Re: 1991 Jeep weatherstrip

A good fix for that would be to just run a bead of seal along the hardtop to windsheild meeting surface. That will compleately seal it up, and you won't have to remove the top to do it. I don't even have that rubber seal on my hard top. When I set it on there is about a 1/4 inch gap between the top and the windshield. I run a sealant in there and it stays %100 Dry inside.

I replaced that seal on my hard top about 6 or 7 years ago. Seems like it was only a few $ at the dealer and installed easily.
