\"Grill\" Guard Tech page up! Tell me what you think

After several of you asked me to put together a tech article on the grill guard I put behind the grill on my jeep, I finally got around to doing it. The link is: Internal Radiator Guard Tech Article

Honestly I hardly think of it as a "tech" article! Please let me know what you think of it, and if you could use the instructions given to do the same thing. In a day or two I'll submit it to SWB.com's tech section if it seems okay.

Also, if you backtrack to my jeep page, I'm sorry...I haven't updated it in a long time, but will be over the next few hours!

Re: \"Grill\" Guard Tech page up! Tell me what you think

Been thinking of using the same material to do an "inside" grille gaurd on my CJ-7 but couldn't figure out how to mount it. Pretty slick with the carriage bolts welded to the backside of the grille uprights! It's on my "Winter Projects" list.

Thanks for the kind words!

Thanks for the kind words everybody. I'll go ahead and submit it to shortwheelbase.com for the tech section. I can't wait to hear hear how it works out for each of you....btw--send me a pic when it's done, and with your permission I'll post it on my webpage. I'm sure someone will come up with an improvement or variation or similar neat idea that will be great!

Thanks again for the kind words!

Re: Thanks for the kind words!

I was doing fine until I got to the weld part, 'glass one piece front end don't ya know. I'd need to weld the bolts to a piece of say 1/8" x 3/4" strap and then 'glass it in. I realized that might work on the steel too. You'd only need to tack it to the grille so not as much heat, not as much danger of metal warpage. If you were really against the repaint, you could even scrape a few bare spots in the back of the grille bars and JB Weld it in.

Re: Thanks for the kind words!

DOH! I forgot about 'glass frontends! Still, great idea with the JB weld. I'm going to add that as an option and credit it to you if that's okay!

Thanks!

Fine if you want, I don't really need credit. Just throwing out ideas, it's yours if you like it.
