302 in a CJ7?
Right now I have an 83 CJ7 w/ 258 that just threw a rod. It has a manual tranny. Has anyone done this conversion that can help me out? What does it entail? Cost, parts, etc.? I could then get a Ford 2wd T-18 and it would bolt right up, right? Thanks for any recomendations.

Re: 302 in a CJ7?
There is a company in San Jose that has the parts you need to do this swap. It's called Z and M Conversions.

Re: 302 in a CJ7?
If you have the T-176 4speed transmission you will not need to replace it the 302 should bolt right up to it. It is a marginal strength case if the 302 is not
beefed up you should not have any problems. If you are need of a new tranny as well might as well replace it with aT-18 at the same time to prevent
having to do it down the road. You'll need motor mounts and headers, Advance adapters sells both for I believe, $149 each. Other than that its a pretty
straight forward swap.
