cleaning up the rats nest of wires

I just spent hours searching through old posts on this and couldn't find what I was looking for, so any advice would be much appreciated.

I'm trying to clean up the wiring mess under my hood and I'm afraid to just start ripping things out. I've had my share of wiring woes and don't want to worsen the situation, but I need to clean up this mess. Any suggestions? What are the basics I need for it to run?

Engine wiring seems to make me stupid...

Re: cleaning up the rats nest of wires

If you have bypassed the computer, which it looks like you have with the "Nutter Bypass" then the wiring harness that is attached to the computer (silver box under the dash) Should be able to be removed.
If I remember correctly, the electric choke wire is bundled into the "computer" wiring harness too, so you may need to re-route or replace that wire.
I replaced my carb with a Weber and my ignition with HEI, so when it was time to remove my wiring I traced all of them and realized they were not connected to anything, so out they came.

I have removed the computer, but was worried there were other used wires bundled in with that mess. I was also thinking about the factory diognostic hookup next to the battery. I would think that could come out easy enough.
