Question on mounting Rocker Guards ? ? aluminum ??

question, to those of you that made rocker guards out of angle iron....

do you bolt on the underside of the body as well as the sides? or just the sides?

I found some 5" x 3" x 3/8" aluminum (6061 structural), and im thinking about using it for rockers........ you guy think thats a good idea or should i go steel, i'm not too worried about the strength , but i am worried about gouging if i slide across rocks, or possible cracking if a heavy blow is somehow delivered to it.

thanks!

I say, Use what you have.
Do you really do a lot of rock crawling where you wheel?

I'd reccommend steel. You'll gouge the aluminum, and it will probably crack after repeated gouguings.
