TJ, 6 cylinder, 35\'s with 3.73\'s, will it work?

With appropiate lift of course, will the jeep be completely underpowerd with 3.73's and 35's or will it do okay on the freeway? It doesn't beed to be a speed demon. Thanks

your probably going to need more like 4.10 or 4.56, to make getting moving more liveable. On the freeway passing would be borderline. check this out should be helpful

Re: TJ, 6 cylinder, 35\'s with 3.73\'s, will it work?

When I went from stock 28.5" to 31" tires on my 93 YJ (with 4.0L and 3.54 gears), I noticed the following differences:

1) engine ran about 10 degrees hotter
2) average gas mileage dropped from 18mpg to 15mpg
3) a noticeable drop in hill climbing ability on the freeway
4) an increase in low range crawl speed off road
5) degradation of compression braking ability in low range off road

So, I changed from 3.54 to 4.10, and all of the above returned to what I was used to. I predict that you will not like what you experience with
35" tires and 3.73's.

do you have an automatic transmission? if so you might get away with 34"ers, 35" sounds like alot of tire, but you can't always do what your suppose to
