Top coat on Hammerite?????

After coating the frame with the "hammered finish" black Hammerite I'm wondering if I should put a top coat on it.

Looks kinda gray instead of black.

Thanks!

Unless you do not like the color, there is no reason to paint over Hammerite. I used the same color Hammerite on my frame, and it came out pretty black, so I am not sure why yours did not.

We bought our 'Silver hammered finish' at Lowes. We repainted a utility trailer with this (2 quarts) with no topcoat and it looks great.

Re: Top coat on Hammerite?????

I top coated mine with some of the truck and bed coating. Didn't last too long in the footwells, but looks OK on the rockers. I let the Hammerite cure for about 6 months first though, and painted over it because it was bright green (got the Hammerite for free!).
