90\' jeep...

I just test drove a 1990 jeep wrangler straight 6, carbrator, good offroading tires. The thing handeled great......i never knew a jeep handeled that good! This jeep had a leakin windshield, rust on the inside and out, and a dented hood like a big rock fell on it or somthin. it has 75k miles on it and its only 4k. Serviced motor with new parts, serviced trans and rear end. The thing didn't even shimmy at all when on the freeway doing 80+. Really stabel when turning. I just don't know if its worth it?

Re: 90\' jeep...

What are your intentions for a Jeep? Do you plan on doing a lot of highway driving or off-roading? Was it the original engine? What extra's does it have? Would you keep the hood dented like that or would you replace it? Where does the windshield leak? At the bottom? If so that is just a seal that can be replaced, but that is more money. How much rust? Where is the rust? Do you really like this Jeep enough to spend that money on it? I'm sure other people will have more questions for you.

If you ask me, any Jeep is worth 4k! Just my 2 cents though...

Re: 90\' jeep...

Was the jeep wheeled at all? Since it has mud tires i'm guessing there's a good chance. Pull back plastic and other areas the owner wouldn't think to clean out and look for mud. If i were you i'd pass it up if it's seen any off pavement use. I know i wouldn't want to buy a rig from my self if i had taken it off road. I would look for a street driven stock jeep. Some people here have bought modified jeeps and they have worked out alright but others have had nothing but problems. I had a buddy that bought a lifted bronco and probably put what he paid for it (probably 10 grand) into it keeping it alive. Does it have an auto or a 5 speed? If it has the 5 speed make sure it isn't a pouget since they are [email protected] and won't last, the auto is alright just make sure you get the vent line relocated if you see any water. I'd keep your eyes pealed for a '91-'95. You get a fuel injected motor (big plus for wheeling) and an alright 5 speed or auto, they are probably the best build up buys.
