This weekend venture

attended the Fall Gathering of my Toyota club, being
held at Whitts End campground and Mount Madness here in Boston

There is a new extreme hard core trail that they have
now. I had to try this. On the way up, past the 1/2
way point, I dropped the CJ into a hornets nest and
had to abandon the rig. We pulled cable and Lee (pass)
with more balls than I jumped into the drivers seat
and as I winched, we drug the poor CJ over the bolders
and away from out angry friends. I jumped in and as we
traveled further into hells fist, My front axle
exploded with a bang. At first we thought it was a
hub, and as I carry a spare, we checked it out. All
was fine there, but she felt like it skipped and
banged in the front axle. I finished the hard core
trail in 2 lo (split transfer case) and used 4 when I
had to. Back at the camp I removed the front diff
cover to find that I broke 8 teeth off the ring gear
in my pumpkin. 31/2 inches of gaping hole where there
were once teeth. I was done for the weekend. With the
Warn inner and outter axle shafts, I moved the weak
link from the u-joints, to inside the diff to the ring
Other than that I fared well as our small group (3
highly modified trucks) did all the hard core trails
in 1 day.
