258 Exhaust Manifold O2 bung.

Does the stock 258 exhaust manifold have an Oxygen Sensor bung?

My Jeep came with headers on it, and I am planning Howell FI (which requires an O2 sensor). I want to switch to stock type exhaust manifold, and ditch the header (more clearance, cheap).

Can't remember, but I believe that the original from an '82 would have one. I am using a manifold from an '83 and it has one. I know that if it has the comp controlled BBD then it will have the O2 sensor.

Re: 258 Exhaust Manifold O2 bung.

Just to give you additional info. I bought "weld-on" oxygen sensor bungs for my 5.0 swap. Used old F100 manifolds, and had the bung welded in the down pipe.

Just another way you might want to go....

Re: 258 Exhaust Manifold O2 bung.

There was a discussion a while back about when the computer controlled BBD's came out and it sems the concensus was 1983. This manifold (and later) will have the O2 sensor hole already in. The Howell kit does come with an O2 sensor bung to weld into your exhaust pipe if you don't have an O2 ready manifold.
