Off-road carb. really off-road?

I am putting a new carb on my 86 Cj7, and am debating Holley's Avenger off-road carb. Anyone had experience with it? Or had experience with other carbs that worked well?

you didn't say what motor but it is hard to beat a good old motorcraft 2 barrel carb off-road. a q-jet can be set up to work pretty good too. i hear the holley avenger and the q-jet perform very similar off-road.

I have heard the samething as high5 and was going to get the truck avenger. But why not spend a little more and get the projection kit? depending on your motor. Mike

I have a q-jet and it has worked out pretty good for my Chevy 305. It only stalled once while wheeling at paragon last time. To be honest, I haven't even cleaned it up yet. I took it right off of an 85 suburbon and plopped it on to try it. So far so go. Sooner or later I will have it rebuilt and tuned.
