steering
Hey all I have another question for you. I just acquired a 78 CJ5 with power steering last week and I broke the lower steering knuckle. THe broken part is a bushing between the flanges of the steering box and the steering shaft. This is a hard rubber piece with steel belts in it. I spoke with Turner 4WD and they said it is not an original part. Have any of you heard of this and what is my best fix? I think a big part of the problem is the 3" body lift which I plan on replacing with a suspension lift in the near future. Any help appreciated.

Re: steering
Sounds to me like you are talking about the "rag" joint in the steering column, this is a "help" item from AutoZone and Napa that should cost about $5.00 for the part, Unless, due to the 3" body lift some one made a homemade rag joint and repalced the original.

Re: steering
Thanks, I located one at the local auto parts store and will put is on this evening. Once I remove the body lift, will I still need this part or can I discard it? Thanks again.

Re: steering
You will still need the part as it is a very important part of the steering system.
