Half Top ? ? ?

if someone could help me, i was wondering if i can get a scrambler hard half cab and bulkhead and use it in my 93 yj. i know that i am going to have to take out the roll bar in my yj, but will it fit in my yj. everything that i looked at has just been putting the half cab on a cj-7.

Re: Half Top ? ? ?

I seen lots of CJ7s with them and I like the look. I see no reason why it won't fit your YJ.

Re: Half Top ? ? ?

I think it will fit perfectly. The Scramblers had the later style post door latches and inner tub changes for them same as the YJ. Trying to put it on an older CJ tub would require modifications to fill the gap between the bulkhead and the tub sides. I put one on a fiberglass body CJ which I believe is the same tub sold for the YJ.

I cut the rear legs loose from the rollbar, cut the main hoop down to fit on top of the rear fenderwells and welded it back up. I'd suggest tying a brace down to the frame.

Re: Half Top ? ? ?

Would a pre'79 CJ5 factory roll bar fit behind the half-top on a Wrangler?

That would be a cheap easy solution for you!

Re: Half Top ? ? ?

I just cut the bottom off of the main hoop and cut the rear support braces off and welded them back on. Because the roll bar originally leaned forward and the older style rear braces meet the main loop part way down the legs, I actually had to remove over an inch from the brace legs for the new hoop angle.

All it cost me was a little time to fishmouth the ends of the braces, which I found to be quite easy if you just cut it at the right angle and grind back to the line. I've still got a lot of friends and supporters where I used to work, so they made new foot plates and welded it for me.

I'd have rather used the later YJ "family style" roll bar, but they seem to be scarce as hens teeth around here. I've been looking off and on for several years and never found one.
