waggie d44 outer axles

Anybody know if waggie outer axles are the same as the early(78) ford f-150 outers as far as length and diameter?

'79 Cherokee and '84 Dodge are the same. Maybe somebody knows if Dodge and Ford are the same.

As far as I know...most dana 44 outers are the same...the only ones that I am certain are different are the dodge with out front hubs....I have put ford on Jeep...chevy on dodge ..international on ford...even the knuckles are the same...I put a blazer housing under my j10 and used the jeep parts from knuckles out...(did a spring over conversion)

Re: waggie d44 outer axles

I need an outer myself. How much $ do they usually go for? Will junkyards sell just the shafts out of a housing?

Thanks,
Tom

Re: waggie d44 outer axles

I know some junkyards that will. I found me a narrow waggie axle minus the outer axles, knuckles ect. I need to know if the outer is the same which could save me some time searching for a complete axle. I'll measure the ford tomorrow and post it.

actually... the scout stuff is different.. they are 27 spline like a cj d-30, and the knuckles use 8 studs to hold the spindle on where chevy, dodge, and jeep d-44's use 6. many of the ford spindles use 5 studs, but many use 6 as well.
also be carefull about what year blazer ytour referring to. after about 1976 gm switched to the 10 bolt front axle. while from the ball joints out they are the same, it should be noted that not all the parts will interchange.

Re: waggie d44 outer axles

I'm willing to bet that the Ford D44 outers are a different length than the Dodge/Chevy/Jeep ones. If you're only using the Ford hub, Chevy spindle assembly, the D/C/J ones will work.
