Help me price my CJ7 for sale!!!

It is time to sell my CJ7. I have come to the unfortunate realization that I have spent too much money on it and that I am going to lose on the sale. Oh well, that is the cost of fun for having a CJ.
So help me put a price on this Jeep:

1985 CJ7 150k miles
T-176
rebuilt 258
Weber 32/36
GM HEI
Full cage Smitty front with 92-95 YJ rear
Durabak liner
2 yr old Supertop
4.10 gears
Detroit locker in rear
1-piece axles
New Trailmax seats
2.5" lift
5-32x11.5 BFG Mud terrains less than 5k miles on them
There is more, but that should cover the main things.

The Jeep is in good condition, but has some light trail damage on one corner and some scratches on the hood. Everything is in working order.

Please give me some opinions on price.

Thanks,
Tom

PS. I will chime in with my actual costs after a few responses.

Re: Help me price my CJ7 for sale!!!

WEEEELLLLL>... let's see here, Assuming that the engine was very recently rebuilt as "stock," the trans and t-case ahven't really been touched aside from normal maintenance, It has a fairly mild lift with slightly oversize tires, a beefed up rear axle with a locker and lower gearing and interior mods like the roll-cage, durabak and new seats, and if everything else is in "decent working order", I'd say you'd be in the $5-6k range to the right person.

I'm sure though that you have way more than that in it... I started totalling up what I have in mine and got scared and stopped when I reached $9000... (and that's just parts I'd hate to think what it would've cost if I was paying labor)

Re: Help me price my CJ7 for sale!!!

I would say that since you are in Texas that 5-6 would be a fair asking price. Up here in the great north east a 1985 anything would probably be hurting for strength, and would never go for that much. But I would think you should be able to get about 5K for it. It looks like it will make somebody very happy. Sorry to hear that you have to get rid of it.

Re: Help me price my CJ7 for sale!!!

Well you guys are pretty close. I probably have about $8k in it. It looks like I could maybe get $6500 if someone knows what a locker is. I am not sure I will sell it for a $1500 loss. I may have to let it sit in my garage some more. If I could only drive 2 Jeeps at once. LOL

Later,
Tom

Bummer, having to get rid of your other rig....you should use that one for the harder trails so you don't mess up that purty scrambler ya got.....wish I could help you out, but I'm broke...., just take it to Katemcy and set it out there with a for sale sign, I bet it'll sale....

Re: Help me price my CJ7 for sale!!!

You don't need to be able to DRIVE 2 Jeeps at once... Just think of it as a "hot spare" (computer term).

Or at worse you could use it as bait for a Jeep(less) Chick...

5-6K sounds decent.

Olin I was thinking just the opposite that up in the north east the same Jeep would bring a higher price because it's from Texas and won't have the rust problems normally a Jeep from the north east has.

Re: Help me price my CJ7 for sale!!!

You are right if it came from TX then it would be in good shape and would sell high. What I ment when I posted was that if a jeep that old had spent its entire life up here it wouldn't be worth much. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: Help me price my CJ7 for sale!!!

That's funny you can't get ANY Jeep here in Eastern NC for less than 6k. Stick to your guns and you'll get your 7-8. Ebay IS the answer, with a reserve!
