Oil Pan painting :should I use a special paint ?

I picked up an old oil pan at the junkyard yesterday to replace my punctured one. It all rusty so I need to sandblast it and paint it.
Should I use a special paint ?
I am just concerned that the paint might contaminate the oil and ruined my engine.
Thanks for your help.

There's no reason to paint the inside of the pan. Just clean the rust up, and the oil will keep the inside clean. The outside you can paint with anything you want. Polka dots, zebra stripes, whatever

Re: Oil Pan painting :should I use a special paint ?

I used some simple green and a wire brush on the inside of my "new to me" oil pan. Took FOREVER to clean out. If it's real nasty, I'd sandblast the sucker. Like said before, don't paint the inside. Just get it down to bare metal.
