ring gear codes, what ratio?

I want to know what ratio is in my 89 2.5 wrangler, one of the previous owners changed the ratio. The ring gear has these numbers: 07 24 88 dana d 42722 p8l39 37 9 and in bigger numbers is 622. I believe the 2.5 5 speed came with 4:10's so i'm guessing its 4:88? Its slow on the highway but moves pretty good off the line, so i'de think real low, any ideas?

What years did the dana 44 come in jeeps from the factory? I have heard it was only 3 years that they were used. Was thinking of swapping one in...

Re: ring gear codes, what ratio?

Looking at the code I see 37 9 which could be 37 teeth on the ring gear and 9 on the pinion which would make it 4.11, but this is just a wild guess (maybe even a correct one ).

Yep, they did in fact come with the 4.10 gears in the 4 cyls. You are correct on the 37/9 thing.
