Difference btween CJ-5, CJ-7 and Wrangler
I am looking at a CJ/Wrangler purchase. What is the difference between a CJ-5 and a CJ-7? Is one a longer wheelbase than the other? How do they compare (especially wheelbase) to the Wrangler?
I have located a 1990 Wrangler (very palin model...Base Model?) with 75,000 miles. It has a 6 cylinder engine and a 5-speed; no A/C and no frills. It's extremely clean and well maintained for $7,500. The "book" on it with Edmunds is just over $4,000, so a price tag of $7,500 struck me as high until I started looking around and realized there are very few available in that price range or age. Does this seem like a decent deal on a stock, plain, well-maintained 1990? Is the newer fuel-injected model enough better to justify passing on this 1990 model? I'm at 7,000 feet and will use it at altitudes up to 10,000 feet so the 4-cylinder seems to me to be a poor choice. I really know very little about Jeeps but I know a fair amount about engines. Any help or additional comments are most welcome. Thanks all.
