Question on Starter Selinods and Power Dist Center

I have a CJ7 with starter selinoid mounted on right fenderwell. I have installed the Power Distribution Center from a 95 Cherokee.
It appears that the 95 starter has the selinoid on the starter and used a relay in the Power Distribution Center (activated by the ignition switch) to start the engine???
Are my assumptions about the wiring setup on the 95 accurate? AND, If I want to use the relay in the 95 Power distribution center and the external selinoid and starter on the 85 CJ7, it is necessary to run the ignition wire to both the selinoid and the relay inorder to power the starter?
Appreciate comments about this wiring setup. Thanks.

Re: Question on Starter Selinods and Power Dist Center

Yes, your could use the relay in the PDC to power the the CJ Starter relay. However that would add another layer of complexity to the system and add more parts to break down.

I'd try to completly skip that PDC relay and use it's enabling voltage run the Starter relay.

So, do an experiment. Find the voltage feed to the PDC relay in question. Now jumper that wire to the fender mounted starter relay. Hit the switch and you should see the starter relay kick in....

Thanks for the confirmation. I will try the jumper wire.
